Premier Sports Cup Quarter Final Schedule Confirmed

The Premier Sports Cup quarter final schedule has been confirmed, with Ross County preparing to welcome Hibernian to Dingwall as four ties unfold across three days in September.

County’s meeting with David Gray’s Hibs will kick off at 3pm on Saturday, 12 September, with the match shown live on the Premier Sports Player and a place in the last four waiting for the winners.

The Staggies earned their home quarter final after travelling to Dunfermline and coming away with a 2 to 1 victory at the KDM Group East End Park.

It gives Highland supporters another cup afternoon in Dingwall and County the advantage of playing in front of their own crowd as the competition reaches its business end.

The quarter final weekend begins the previous evening at Ochilview, where Stenhousemuir will face Heart of Midlothian at 7.45pm on Friday, 11 September.

Stenhousemuir produced one of the stories of the previous round when they knocked out Motherwell to reach their first League Cup quarter final since 1975 to 1976.

After County and Hibernian take centre stage on Saturday afternoon, attention moves to Rugby Park where Kilmarnock and Aberdeen meet at 5.45pm.

Kilmarnock reached the last eight after edging a terrific Ayrshire derby against Ayr United 3 to 2, while Aberdeen secured their place with a convincing 3 to 0 victory over Dundee at Pittodrie.

The weekend then builds towards Rangers against Celtic at Ibrox on Sunday, 13 September, with the Glasgow rivals kicking off at noon.

There is already a little recent cup history between them after Celtic won 3 to 1 following extra time when the sides met in last season’s Premier Sports Cup semi finals.

They will not have long to wait for another meeting either, with the two clubs due to face each other again in the Premiership at Celtic Park just seven days later.

Premier Sports will show the Stenhousemuir, Kilmarnock and Rangers ties, while Ross County against Hibernian will be available through the Premier Sports Player.

It is a quarter final line up with something in almost every corner, from Stenhousemuir chasing a remarkable cup run to another meeting of the Old Firm.

For the Highlands, however, the one that matters is in Dingwall, where Ross County are now 90 minutes away from the Premier Sports Cup semi finals.
