Members of Highland Council’s Health, Social Care and Wellbeing Committee have warmly congratulated the Lead Nurse for Care Experienced Children and Young People, Helen Gilpin (pictured) who was presented with the Queen’s Nurse Award in November 2021.

Helen was accepted onto the Queen’s Nursing Institute for Scotland Programme during March 2021 and spent the following nine months working towards the prestigious Queen’s Nurse Award.

Helen, who is based in Skye, is an experienced specialist nurse and active member of her local community.

Her award programme project focussed on the health needs of care experienced children and young people culminating in the Queen’s Nurse Award presentation in November.

Chair of Highland Council’s Health, Social Care and Wellbeing Committee, Cllr Linda Munro, said:

“On behalf of the Committee, we offer Helen our sincere congratulations for her success in attaining this prestigious award.

“Such an achievement is testament to Helen’s unwavering commitment to her work along with the care-experienced children and young people living here in Highland.”

Cllr Munro continued:

“We are incredibly proud of Helen’s contribution in Highland and recognise that the learning  and experience gained in working towards this award will serve to further support positive outcomes for Care Experienced Young People and Children and the delivery of The Promise.”
