Road Closures Confirmed for Etape Loch Ness Cycling Event

Drivers across Inverness and around Loch Ness are being advised to plan ahead as extensive road closures are put in place for the Etape Loch Ness cycling event.

The event takes place on Sunday 26 April, with restrictions in force from 6pm on 25 April until 3.30pm on 26 April to allow the safe passage of participants.

A number of key routes will be fully closed during this period.

The following roads will be subject to a temporary prohibition of traffic:

The A82 between Bught Drive in Inverness and the C1118 General Booth Road.

The A82 between the C1118 General Booth Road and the A831 Drumnadrochit to Cannich to Beauly road.

The A82 between the A831 junction and the private road to Urquhart Castle.

The A82 between the Urquhart Castle junction and the U1766 Dalcataig Road in Invermoriston.

The A82 between the U1766 Dalcataig Road and the B862 Fort Augustus to Whitebridge to Torness to Dores to Inverness road.

The B862 between the A82 and the B852 Dalcrag Bridge to Foyers to Inverfarigaig to Dores road.

The B852 between the B862 and the C1080 Inverfarigaig to Errogie road.

The B852 between the C1080 Inverfarigaig to Errogie road and the B862.

The B862 between the B852 and Holm Roundabout.

The B862 between Holm Roundabout and the B861 at Ness Bridge.

Ness Walk between Young Street and Ardross Terrace.

Ardross Terrace between Ness Walk and Bishops Road.

Bishops Road between Ness Walk Upper and Ardross Terrace.

Ness Walk Upper between Bishops Road and Bught Road.

Bught Road between Ness Walk Upper and Whin Park.

Bught Avenue between Bught Road and Bught Lane.

Bught Drive between Bught Avenue and the A82.

The A8082 Inverness Southern Distributor Road between Holm Roundabout and Ness Side Roundabout for southbound traffic only.

In addition to closures, a temporary 20 mile per hour speed limit will be in place on part of the B862 from Holm Roundabout to a point just south of Bellfield Park.

Emergency services and vehicles involved in running the event will be exempt from the restrictions.

The Etape Loch Ness continues to draw thousands of cyclists to the Highlands, turning the roads around the loch into one of Scotland’s most scenic sporting routes.

For those travelling over the weekend, the message is clear, expect disruption and plan ahead.
