ScotRail is celebrating outstanding successes at the prestigious annual National Rail Awards, the industry’s Oscars.
Glasgow Queen Street station scooped the Station of the Year – Major award at a ceremony in London last night.
And Wemyss Bay station came out top in the Station of the Year – Small category, following up its victory in last year’s World Cup of Stations.
Motherwell station was also highly commended in the Station of the Year – Large award.
The event rewards excellence across every aspect of the railway from contributions made by those on the front line, to astounding achievements on the industry’s biggest projects.
The award for Glasgow Queen Street, Scotland’s third busiest station, comes just three years after a massive £120 million makeover.
Around 50,000 customers a day use the station which connects passengers with Edinburgh, the Highlands, and the west and east coasts of Scotland.
Wemyss Bay station, which sits on the Firth of Clyde, is on the Inverclyde Line.
It was designed in 1903 by renowned railway architect James Miller in 1903.
The station, which includes the world-famous glass roof, is recognised as a Category A listed building.
In 2023, Wemyss Bay took first place in the World Cup of Stations competition organised by the Rail Delivery Group.
Phil Campbell, ScotRail Customer Operations Director, said:
“This has been a fantastic night for ScotRail at the National Rail Awards.
“To win one railway Oscar would have been impressive, but to come away with two is an incredible achievement that says so much about the commitment of the colleagues who work very hard to keep Scotland’s railway on track.”
