Drivers on the A9 near Dalmagarry should prepare for changes as major works begin this May.
From 6 May 2025, a section of the A9 will operate under 24-hour temporary traffic signals for around three weeks.
The affected stretch is located about 2.5 kilometres north of the Tomatin Junction, near Dalmagarry Farm.
Both northbound and southbound traffic will be directed onto a short temporary single-lane carriageway around the works area.
The lane realignment is necessary to safely install large pipes under the A9 in preparation for a future diversion of the Dalmagarry Burn.
Traffic signals will be manually operated throughout the works to manage queue lengths and keep vehicles moving.
These works will be active around the clock to reduce the overall disruption period and enable the earliest possible removal of traffic controls.
Although pedestrian and emergency access will remain fully operational, drivers should expect short delays, particularly during peak travel times.
A minor diversion will also be in place for the NCN7 walking and cycling route, safely steering non-motorised users around the construction zone.
Motorists are encouraged to approach with caution and to factor extra time into their journeys while the temporary measures are in place.
All work is subject to weather conditions and may be rescheduled if necessary.
