The award-winning Dyad Productions is back with a new historical masterpiece, diving into the extraordinary life of Sir Walter Raleigh.

Following the five-star success of I, Elizabeth, Dyad returns to the Elizabethan era with That Knave, Raleigh, a solo performance that unpacks the highs and lows of one of Britain’s most captivating historical figures.

Sir Walter Raleigh is often remembered as an explorer, courtier, and favourite of Queen Elizabeth I, but there’s far more to his story than meets the eye.

A father, husband, poet, adventurer, soldier, and philosopher, Raleigh lived a life more extraordinary than most could imagine.

His legacy spans continents, from his role in the colonisation of America to his exploits against the Spanish Armada, yet his story is also one of betrayal, imprisonment, and tragedy.

Spending over a decade in the Tower of London, Raleigh’s influence never truly waned, even as he fell from royal favour under James I.

His final years are a tale of daring, defiance, and devastation, culminating in a fate that remains one of history’s most dramatic falls from grace.

Andrew Margerison takes on the role of Raleigh, delivering a performance that is both mesmerising and deeply moving.

Directed by Rebecca Vaughan, the show is a gripping mix of historical accuracy and theatrical flair, drawing audiences into Raleigh’s turbulent world.

Dyad Productions has built a reputation for creating and touring classic theatre with a modern twist, earning critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe and beyond.

Their previous productions, including A Christmas Carol, Lady Susan, A Room of One’s Own, Christmas Gothic, Austen’s Women, and Female Gothic, have all been met with five-star reviews.

With striking costume design by Ninya Mikhaila, evocative lighting by Martin Tucker, and immersive sound by Danny Bright, That Knave, Raleigh is a visually and emotionally powerful production.

The show has been developed in collaboration with The Old Town Hall, Hemel Hempstead, where Dyad Productions is a resident company.

That Knave, Raleigh promises to be a thrilling theatrical experience, offering a fresh perspective on a man who shaped history and whose influence still resonates today.

Audiences can expect a rollercoaster of ambition, betrayal, and resilience, as they witness the rise and fall of a man who refused to be forgotten.

For lovers of history and theatre alike, this is a performance not to be missed.

That Knave, Raleigh’, will be on at Eden Court Theatre on 13th April at 7pm
