This month saw the opening of The Highland’s Table, a new cafe at the main entrance to Raigmore Hospital.

The menu has been reworked, the coffee improved and the dining area redesigned with all profits from The Highland’s Table going back into patient care.

The cafe is focused on using local suppliers including Macbeth’s butchers, Graham’s Dairy and Harry Gow bakery.

The Highland’s Table is very much aimed at NHS staff who get a 20% discount.

Patients and visitors will be welcome in due course, but for the moment seating is currently restricted to staff only and on a COVID compliant basis which is being constantly reviewed.

Breakfast includes bacon and sausage rolls with the meat supplied by Macbeths Butchers alongside yoghurt and granola pots and fruit pots.

Lunch will see reworked hot pots and an improved range of salads and sandwiches while over the afternoon you can buy a constantly changing range of tray bakes, cakes and tarts.

Iona McGauran, Lead Nurse for Raigmore Hospital, said:

“It is fantastic to see this facility embrace so much Highlands produce which the in-house team then transform.

“While COVID regulations limit how many can sit in for the moment, I’ve no doubt we all look forward to sitting in a space that is warm and inviting and very comfortable.

“I’m also thrilled that the intention is to extend this brand throughout all our facilities in the Highlands, Argyll and Bute so all NHS staff will benefit.”

David Mackay, Head of Facilities for NHS Highland, said:

“It is intended that specific items of equipment will be purchased with the cafe’s profits.

“This is a long-term project which we are very excited about where we will be working with the local community for the local community.”

The Highland’s Table is open seven days a week from 8am-6pm.
