The “Walter Mitty like man” who’s “belief that he contributes to serious political discourse is discredited by his pettiness,” according to the serving MP for Inverness, Skye and West Ross-shire, Angus MacDonald, returns in podcast form.

‘In the Footsteps of Politics’ is an interview-based show in which host Peter Newman, the former Scottish Green candidate turned SNP activist, talks to some of the most interesting people about how they got to where they are, their successes and failures.

The show began during the General Election campaign as Newman tried to walk the 500 miles of the constituency.

Now, the podcast returns, talking to writers, activists, politicians and anyone who has something to say about the intersection of politics and policy and how these combine for what matters most: how to help people.

Newman said:

“I’m really excited to be bringing the show back.

“I’ve been a teacher, a journalist and a political activist for over 20 years and the thing I’m constantly struck by is just how interesting people really are.

“I’m looking forward to talking to people from across the political spectrum, and the world, about the issues which matter to them and find out what we can learn from them.

“I’m hoping that my broad experience, as well as my Walter Mitty like variety of interests, will make for a fascinating show.”

The latest episode of ‘In the Footsteps of Politics’ with MI6 officer turned novelist, Charles Beaumont is out now on all podcast providers, Spotify and YouTube.
