Police in Aviemore are appealing for information following two thefts from vehicles parked in the Sugar Bowl car park near Glenmore.

Between 1040 am and 1215 pm yesterday, Saturday 25th July 2020, high value personal items, including a purse and mobile phone, were removed from two separate vehicles.

One of the cars had been badly damaged beforehand.

Enquiries in to the thefts are underway with officers appealing to anyone who may have seen anyone behaving in a suspicious manner in the area to make contact.

In particular, police are keen to hear from anyone with dash cam footage as this may have picked up any vehicles or people in the car park area around the given times.

Commenting PC Andrew, of Aviemore Police Station, has the following advice:

“With the Cairngorms seeing a welcome increase in visitors now lockdown has eased, we would use this opportunity to remind visitors to make sure they remove all valuables from their vehicles and secure all windows and doors prior to enjoying a day out.

“Fortunately, crime of this type is very rare in this area but it’s best not to give an opportunistic thief any chances.

“In addition to removing all valuables and keeping all items out of sight, simple steps such as leaving the glove box empty and open can act as a deterrent.

“Registering high value items with www.immobilise.com can increase your chances of having your items returning to you should the unfortunate happen.

“Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Aviemore Police via 101 quoting reference number 1828 of 25th July, 2020.”
