The Dipping Lugger in Ullapool is celebrating after retaining all four of its AA accolades for accommodation, food, breakfast and its wine list.

The Highland restaurant with rooms has retained its five star gold Restaurant With Rooms Award, three AA Red Rosettes for Culinary Excellence, AA Breakfast Award and Notable Wine List Award.

It marks the fifth consecutive year that the Dipping Lugger has secured the AA Breakfast Award.

The recognition follows an inspection of the restaurant with rooms, which occupies a former 18th century manse in Ullapool.

The AA Inspector said:

“This 18th-century former manse has been transformed into a wonderful restaurant with rooms offering the highest levels of service as well as hospitality backed up with a stunning dining experience.”

The inspector also highlighted the role of local seafood in the restaurant’s offering.

They added:

“Ullapool’s famous seafood is a focus of the menu.

“Whether it’s lunch or dinner, tasting menus are the way to go, the choices changing with the seasons.”

The four retained accolades recognise different elements of the Dipping Lugger experience, from its accommodation and culinary standards to breakfast and its wine list.

For owners Robert and Helen Hicks, however, retaining the awards is recognition of the work carried out across the entire business.

Robert Hicks said:

“We’re delighted that we’ve maintained our five-star Restaurant with Rooms Award, three AA Rosettes for Culinary Excellence, our Breakfast Award, and our wine list with a Notable Wine List Award.

“Recognition like this is really about every member of the team, from housekeeping to front-of-house and from pot wash to our chefs, and as a result Helen and I would like to say a big thank you to everyone in the team for all their help in making The Lugger what it is today.”

The latest awards continue a strong run of recognition for the Ullapool restaurant with rooms and underline the standards being maintained by its team across both hospitality and dining.
