BBC Scotland’s reporting of the outcome of the Scottish Parliament election will extend over three days to ensure audiences are kept fully informed as the results of the 6 May poll are released.
Results are expected to be announced throughout Friday and into Saturday when the final outcome should become clear.
The broadcaster is producing a wide range of content across all platforms over those two days and into Sunday.
The coverage will feature news from counts across the country by the broadcaster’s teams of reporters and there’ll be interviews and analysis from the studio in more than 20 hours of rolling news programming.
Election 2021 Scotland, presented by Rebecca Curran, will air on Friday from 12 noon until 8.00 pm on BBC One Scotland (with the network news at 1.00 pm and 6.00 pm), and will also be on the BBC Scotland channel from 6.00 pm to 6.30 pm.
Expert analysis will be provided by Political Editor Glenn Campbell while Gary Robertson will get reaction with his political panel as the action unfolds at counts throughout Scotland.
Laura Miller and Laura Goodwin will be on hand to bring the latest news as it happens, Rajdeep Sandhu and Sally Magnusson will report live from Holyrood while David Wallace Lockhart will outline what the results mean with the assistance of a state-of-the-art graphic explainer.
BBC Radio Scotland will simulcast the election programme from lunchtime on Friday and the radio coverage will also include a separate half hour election news programme at 1.00 pm presented by Hayley Millar and another one-hour news programme at 6.00 pm with Andrew Black and Hayley Millar.
On Saturday morning, Laura Maxwell and Andrew Black will be on air from 8am until 10am on BBC Radio Scotland, with the latest news and analysis from the declared results.
Election 2021 Scotland will then be on air for most of the afternoon and early evening from 12 noon to 7.15pm on BBC One Scotland and Martin Geissler will take over in the presenter’s chair as the final election results are expected to come in.
BBC Radio Scotland will simulcast until 6.00 pm when Mhairi Stuart and Hayley Millar will host a separate one-hour election programme.
On Sunday Martin Geissler and Fiona Stalker present The Sunday Show, broadcasting for one hour on BBC One Scotland from 10.15 am and continuing until 12 noon on BBC Radio Scotland.
The programme takes stock of the Scottish Parliament election with all the results in, analysing the moments that shaped the campaign and taking a detailed look at what’s likely to happen next when the politicians return to Holyrood for the new term.
For the Gaelic audience, the BBC Naidheachdan team will be live from Inverness with an hour long special of An Taghadh on BBC ALBA, 7.00 – 8.00 pm on Friday.
And on Sunday, Anne Lundon and the An Taghadh team look back at the results and explore what they will mean for Scotland in the coming days.
BBC Radio nan Gaidheal will include results coverage through the day on Friday and Saturday, presented by Donald Morrison and D.A. Morrison from the studios in Inverness.
BBC Scotland’s online election site (bbc.co.uk/electionscotland) will provide an unmatched live results service throughout the weekend.
Starting from 6.00 am on Friday, the team will provide reports and colour from every count in Scotland, along with video clips of the best reaction, and instant analysis from correspondents such as Philip Sim.
The BBC News website will feature graphics, scoreboards and a detailed breakdown of every result in Scotland, with a postcode search so you can enter your details and find the result that matters to you.
On social media, the @BBCScotlandNews Twitter account will give details of every result as soon as they are come in, Instagram and Facebook will cover all the main highlights, and you can sign up for breaking news alerts for key Scottish results through the BBC News app.
