Get ready for a heartwarming holiday experience like no other: High Life will be running a High Street Winter Scavenger Hunt, a community-driven initiative aimed at bringing joy, fun, and a sense of togetherness to Lochaber this holiday season.

The High Street Winter Scavenger Hunt is designed to encourage local families to embrace the festive spirit, explore this charming town, and support local businesses while they shop for their holiday essentials.

This concept has been put together by High Life Highland’s Heritage Ranger, Michelle Melville, with support from the Ben Nevis Visitors Centre.

Michelle said:

“You’re invited to join the holiday merriment from Saturday 2nd December to Sunday 17th December, by exploring the High Street to ‘treasure hunt’ for hidden winter wildlife cards in shop windows.

“Several businesses along the High Street will be joining hands to create a unique winter wildlife treasure hunt.

“Each participating business will display a card in their store window, featuring a different species of local winter wildlife.

“Families will embark on a delightful journey down the High Street, shopping for their holiday needs keeping their children entertained whilst searching for these wildlife cards.

“They will then write down the names of the shops associated with each animal or bird they find.

“Participants can return their completed answer sheets to the library and enter a prize draw for a chance to win an enchanting holiday hamper, filled with delightful surprises.

“To add to the festivities, there will be a ‘Mini fun morning’ at the launch on Saturday 2nd December, where families are invited to come together and create their own Christmas decorations, fostering a sense of creativity and community spirit.

“We are thrilled to announce the following businesses that are participating in the High Street Scavanger Hunt have donated prizes for our winning hamper:

“Highland Bookshop have donated a £10 voucher, Granite House have donated a ‘gift’ prize, Off-Beat Bikes have donated 2-day tokens for eBike hire, Fort William Library has donated a Children’s Crafting Kit, High Life Highland’s Countryside Rangers have donated a Glenfinnan Viaduct Needle Felting Kit, and High Life Highland are offering a one-month free family highlife membership!

“Together with items funded through the Ben Nevis Visitors Centre, these prizes will be presented to the winning entry the week before Christmas.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to these businesses for their support and enthusiasm.

“So come along and join us in making this holiday season in Lochaber unforgettable!

“Let’s come together, celebrate the magic of Christmas, and support our local businesses while doing so.

“Your support and participation will make this event even more special for our community and bring some joy to our High Street.”

Forms can be collected at the following participating shops on the high street: Tesco, GO outdoors, Cancer Trust, Mountain Warehouse, The Deli, Marshall’s, West Highland Cinema, West Highland Museum, Highland Bookshop, Granite House, Rain, Off-beat Bikes, Chalmers, WHSmith’s, and Nevis Sport.
