Wrestling Spectacle Set to Return to Alness

Professional wrestling is set to make a high energy return to Alness later this month as one of the UK’s longest running wrestling promotions brings its latest touring show to Ross shire.

The World Wide Wrestling League, better known as W3L, will return to Alness Academy on Friday 26 June with an evening of family entertainment featuring stars from across the British wrestling scene.

For more than 20 years, W3L has taken its brand of American style professional wrestling to towns and communities throughout the UK, building a loyal following among wrestling fans of all ages.

This latest visit to Alness will see matches recorded for Wrestling Showdown, the promotion’s long running weekly wrestling series.

Among the biggest attractions on the night will be the return of fan favourite “Irn” Drew Marshall, who recently won the coveted Golden Ticket, giving him the right to challenge any champion at a time of his choosing.

Marshall is expected to face members of the security team assigned to protect Wrestling Showdown Champion Hugo Harris, setting up another chapter in one of the promotion’s most talked about rivalries.

Champion Hugo Harris will also be in action after issuing an open challenge to promoters to find a suitable contender for his title.

The card will also feature several familiar names from the W3L roster, including Chris Renfrew, known to fans as the Godfather of Insanity, Welsh favourite Rhoderick Jones, and Father Luke Aldridge, who returns following the loss of the W3L Championship.

A total of five bouts are scheduled for the evening, with organisers promising an action packed show designed to appeal to both long time wrestling followers and families looking for a night of entertainment.

Promoter Mike Musgrave said the event continues W3L’s long standing commitment to bringing major wrestling events to communities across Scotland.

With lights, music, larger than life characters and championship rivalries, the promotion aims to recreate the atmosphere that has helped make professional wrestling one of the world’s most enduring forms of live entertainment.

Doors open at 6.15pm with the first bell scheduled for 6.45pm.

Tickets are priced at £13 for general admission, with family tickets and a limited number of front row ringside seats also available.

For wrestling fans in the Highlands, it promises to be a lively night when the action returns to Alness.
