Xmas Closure Confirmed for Dobbie’s Inverness

After revealing plans to close 17 of its garden centres, earlier in the year, the closing date for Dobbie’s Inverness Store has been announced, with the store officially ceasing operations on Monday, 23rd December 2024, just two days before Christmas.

When the decision was announced in October of this year, rent costs were cited for the decision, with bosses claiming that the decision would see the business turn a profit again.

It was also indicated that the store would likely close before the New Year.

Sadly, the decision to close means the loss of 33 jobs, but Tesco have offered roles to all affected staff across their 4 Inverness stores, Inshes Retail Park, Inverness Shopping Park, Tomnahurich Street and Dores Road.

The company stated that the restructuring plan would ‘enable Dobbie’s to return to sustainable profitability, unlock access to future investment and deliver a strong and well capitalised platform for the business going forwards’.

A spokesperson for Dobbies expressed satisfaction with the outcome, stating:

“We’re pleased to have worked constructively with landlords on the Restructuring Plan.

“The approval of the Restructuring Plan means we can now be focused on the future, building a strong platform for a return to sustainable profitability in our stores across the UK.

“Thank you to all our colleagues, customers and suppliers who supported us during this process.”
