Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Alex Cole Hamilton has thanked party candidates and activists across Scotland as polls closed in the Scottish Parliament election tonight.
Voting finished at 10pm after six weeks of campaigning across the country, with counting now underway ahead of overnight results.
Alex Cole Hamilton said:
“As polls close I would like to thank all of the Scottish Liberal Democrat candidates and activists who have worked so hard to deliver a positive and energetic campaign from the Borders to the Highlands and Islands.
“Together, we’ve been relentlessly knocking on doors, hearing what isn’t working and fixing things.
“It is humbling to have met so many people who are backing us to deliver change with fairness at its heart.
“Whether you voted for us or not, we will work our hearts out to get stuff done, focusing on the cost of living, delivering first-rate healthcare, getting Scotland moving again and getting Scottish education back to its best.
“For now, we are eagerly awaiting the results.”
The Scottish Liberal Democrats campaigned heavily on healthcare, education and the cost of living during the election campaign.
Results from constituencies and regional lists are expected throughout the night and into Friday morning.
