Appeal After Two Vehicles Destroyed in Alness Fire

Police are appealing for information after two vehicles were destroyed in a suspected deliberate fire in Alness during the early hours of Sunday morning.

Emergency services were called to the Caplich Hill area of Alness at around 2.40am on Sunday 14 June following reports that two vehicles were on fire outside a property.

Firefighters from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and extinguished the blaze.

No injuries were reported.

Officers believe the fire was started deliberately and enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

The fire has prompted an appeal from detectives who are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area around the time of the blaze.

Detective Inspector Kevin Byrne said:

“Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area around the time of the fire to come forward.

“We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam footage which could assist our investigation.

Police are asking residents and motorists who were in the Caplich Hill area during the early hours of Sunday morning to review any footage they may have and report anything that could assist the investigation.
