A Black Isle children’s football club has received a cash boost from Parklands Care Homes as they start their new season.
Parklands – which is currently building a new 40 bed care home in Fortrose – is to contribute £1,000 to Avoch Rovers to allow them to buy new equipment and kit.
The volunteer run football club is expanding this year, with the number of children in the team set to reach 70.
The team resumed training last weekend for the first time since mid-March.
Avoch Rovers was formed by local parents who got together to arrange a regular kick about on a Saturday morning for their children.
Initially open to Primary 1-5 age groups, the club will this year expand to include Primary 6 and 7 pupils.
As well as free weekly training sessions, the children are provided with training kit as well as a club strip when playing in local football festivals.
Murray Marshall, Treasurer of Avoch Rovers said:
“We have been very fortunate to have received donations from local businesses as well as undertaking a number of fund-raising activities to ensure the required funding is in place for the required equipment and kit.
“With the expansion to include P6s & P7s this year, as well as a new P1 intake, Parklands’ generous offer of funds will enable the required equipment and kit to be purchased.”
