Scotland’s road maintenance teams may be focused on winter weather for much of the year, but this week their attention has turned firmly towards the World Cup.
BEAR Scotland has thrown its support behind Steve Clarke’s side ahead of Scotland’s opening match, with staff gathering alongside one of the company’s iconic gritters to wish the national team every success.
The light hearted show of support features the company’s bear mascot alongside road maintenance crews beneath the Forth Road Bridge, with a Saltire proudly displayed across the gritter.
While Scotland’s famous orange gritters will not be “coming down the road” until colder weather returns, the team at BEAR Scotland said they could barely contain their excitement ahead of the country’s return to football’s biggest stage.
The images celebrate a moment many Scotland supporters have waited years to see, with the national team preparing for its first World Cup appearance in almost three decades.
Across the country, workplaces, communities and football fans are getting behind the team as anticipation builds ahead of the opening fixture.
For the men and women who help keep Scotland’s roads moving throughout the year, it is another opportunity to show their support for the national side and join in the excitement being felt across the country.
With Scotland preparing to take on Haiti, BEAR Scotland’s message is simple.
Good luck Scotland.
