Cairngorm Mountain, one of Scotland’s top year-round resorts, is on the hunt for a new chief executive to lead its next chapter.

Set in the stunning Cairngorms National Park, the resort offers an array of activities, including skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, tubing slides for children, and its newest addition, mountain carting.

Beyond its outdoor adventures, visitors can enjoy a café, bar, shop, mountain garden, equipment hire, and the UK’s highest restaurant, all nestled within a spectacular landscape.

The resort’s star attraction, Scotland’s only funicular railway, remains temporarily out of service due to extensive remediation work but is set to make a return soon.

Cairngorm Mountain is operated by Cairngorm Mountain (Scotland) Ltd (CMSL), a subsidiary of Highlands and Islands Enterprise, which owns the estate as part of its public development efforts.

Since the departure of the previous chief executive last September, leadership duties have been handled by a part-time interim chief executive alongside senior management stepping into enhanced roles.

The search is now on for a dynamic leader with exceptional skills in leadership, people management, and communications to steer the resort into a sustainable and successful future.

According to the job description, the ideal candidate will guide a skilled and motivated team to cement Cairngorm Mountain as a leading Scottish attraction, oversee daily operations, and drive plans for sustainable growth.

A key part of the role will be forging strong relationships with customers, partner organisations, and stakeholders at local, regional, and national levels to strengthen the resort’s reputation and community ties.

The successful candidate will also need a sharp commercial focus, a strong understanding of environmental issues, and a proven track record of making high-impact investment decisions that support long-term business growth.

Applications for this exciting role are open now on the Highlands and Islands Enterprise website, with the deadline set for Sunday 9 February.

As Cairngorm Mountain looks to its future, the new chief executive will play a pivotal role in shaping the direction of this iconic Scottish destination.
