The Royal Burgh of Dingwall is set to mark a historic milestone in 2026, celebrating 800 years since it was granted Royal Burgh status.
To commemorate the occasion, a year-long program of events and activities is being planned to honour the town’s rich heritage.
In recognition of this significant anniversary, The Highland Council has opened applications for funding to support local events as part of the Dingwall 800 celebrations.
The funding, sourced from the Place Based Investment Fund, was initially established to mitigate the four key harms of the Covid-19 pandemic: direct health impacts, indirect health effects, societal consequences, and economic challenges.
Councillor Graham MacKenzie, Chair of the Dingwall and Seaforth Area Committee, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, stating:
“We are delighted to be able to financially support the community as we come together to celebrate the 800th anniversary of Dingwall becoming a Royal Burgh.”
A total of ÂŁ10,000 has been allocated, with eligible groups able to apply for grants of up to ÂŁ2,000.
Applications are now open, and details on criteria, eligibility, and the application process can be found at The Highland Council’s website
