Don’t Gamble With Sepsis

Local MP, Graham Leadbitter, has urged constituents to “get to know” the symptoms and causes of Sepsis, pleading with people not to gamble with the condition, and to seek urgent care if they’re concerned they might be affected.

Highlighting the experience of Moray MSP, Richard Lochhead, the MP for Moray West, Nairn and Strathspey used a debate in parliament on Wednesday to raise awareness of Sepsis, and promote better understanding of the condition.

The debate occurred in the UK parliament’s first sitting since September, which marked Sepsis Awareness Month.

Commenting, Moray West, Nairn and Strathspey MP, Graham Leadbitter said:

“Moray MSP Richard Lochhead faced an extremely difficult battle with Sepsis, and although he is well on his way to a full recovery now, that was hard fought, and in no small part thanks to the expertise and commitment of NHS staff.

“Richard himself also credits much of his recovery to luck, but sadly not everyone is so lucky. Sepsis is a serious condition that kills thousands of people every year across Scotland.

“It’s vital people get to know the symptoms and causes so it can be recognised, understood, and tackled head-on and early to secure the best possible chance of recovery.

“Don’t gamble with sepsis.

“If you have the slightest inkling that it may be the cause of an illness, get seen to immediately.”
