Dunoon is preparing to take its place on the global stage as Scotland’s next world-class outdoor adventure resort.

A bold new partnership between Nevis Range and The Dunoon Project is set to transform the town into a year-round magnet for thrill-seekers and nature lovers alike.

Dunoon High Five

At the centre of this vision is a state-of-the-art mountain gondola—the first in the region—that will whisk visitors into the Argyll mountains and deliver jaw-dropping views.

Nevis Range brings three decades of experience running Fort William’s iconic gondola and hosting international mountain biking events.

Now that same winning formula is heading to the west coast.

The new resort will offer a full-service base station complete with an adventure-focused hotel, outdoor retail outlets, a bike shop and hire centre, and restaurants serving local and global cuisine.

At the top, a summit café with panoramic views will give visitors a taste of the Highlands like never before.

The development will be a game-changer for Dunoon and a powerful boost for Scotland’s adventure tourism industry.

The gondola alone is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, just as it has done at Nevis Range.

It will also reduce car traffic in the area by offering an eco-friendly and scenic route to the mountain summit.

At the heart of the plan is inclusivity, with biking, hiking and outdoor activities for all ages and levels.

Elite downhill and cross-country mountain bike trails will be sculpted by the best in the business, while families and nature lovers can enjoy guided walks and forest adventures.

There will also be adrenaline-fuelled extras like zip lines and a dedicated adventure park.

This is not just a playground for the daring, but a vibrant hub that caters to everyone.

The resort is expected to create hundreds of jobs across hospitality, retail and the outdoors sector.

It’s a major win for the town, which has long been hailed as a hidden gem with untapped potential.

Chris O’Brien of Nevis Range said Dunoon had always had the right ingredients, and now it will have the infrastructure to match.

John Sutherland, also of Nevis Range, described the project as the foundation of a world-class visitor experience.

Brendon Wallace of The Dunoon Project hailed the move as a “monumental collaboration” that will turbocharge the local economy.

With Nevis Range’s global travel trade partners already on board, the resort is expected to bring in visitors from across Europe and North America.

For Scotland to stay competitive on the world tourism stage, projects like this are essential.

Dunoon is no longer just a charming coastal town—it’s becoming the beating heart of Scotland’s adventure future.
