A welcome boost is on the way for the Highlands’ vibrant events scene, as Highland Council launches a new £75,000 Strategic Events Grant Fund.

From today, event organisers can apply for grants between £3,000 and £10,000 to help bring public events to life between September 2025 and March 2026.

The aim is to brighten the shoulder and off season months, driving visitors to the region and giving the local economy a timely lift.

Part of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund programme, the grant supports tourism, celebrates Highland culture and champions sustainable growth.

Councillor Ken Gowans, Chair of the Economy and Infrastructure Committee, shared his enthusiasm.

“We are delighted to open applications for this important fund.

“Events unite communities, draw visitors and highlight the unique character of the Highlands.

“By supporting strategic events in the off season, we can extend the tourism calendar and create a stronger, more resilient local economy.”

The fund is open to a wide range of public events, from music, food and drink, and cultural festivals, to sports and nature-based gatherings.

Priority will go to events that encourage overnight stays, promote responsible tourism and reflect national and regional strategies, such as Scotland the Perfect Stage 2024 to 2035 and Highland Council’s Sustainable Tourism Strategy 2024 to 2030.

Applications are now open and close at midnight on Monday 30 June 2025.

Successful applicants will be notified by mid July.
