Secondary schools across the Highlands and Islands are being invited to take part in a fundraising initiative that could help feed an entire school of children for a full year.
The project, led by Mary’s Meals, offers schools the chance to support pupils in countries such as Malawi and Zambia by providing daily meals in the classroom.

The idea is simple but powerful, a school here can raise enough to ensure every child in a partner school receives a nutritious meal each day for a full school year.
Mary’s Meals already provides food to more than three million children every school day, helping bring them into education and giving them a chance to build a future.
For many children, the promise of a meal is what makes attending school possible.
The charity says the cost of feeding a child is just 10 pence a day, making the goal more achievable than many expect.
Schools can fundraise independently or work together, building a connection with the school they support and receiving updates throughout the year.
The impact goes beyond the classroom, supporting families and strengthening communities as children gain access to education.
Sean, a pupil in Malawi, said:
“Mostly there is no money, and we don’t eat at home, but I know I will get porridge at school.
“I am happy at school and I want to be a scientist.
“Porridge will help me take the next steps.”
The initiative has already seen success in Scotland, with pupils at St Andrew’s and St Bride’s High School raising over £11000 through a simple but powerful idea.
For five days, they ate only plain food such as porridge, rice and toast, giving up everyday comforts to help others.
Teacher Jacqueline Nelson said:
“I can honestly say Feed A School with Mary’s Meals is one of the best things that we have ever done in our school.
“Through Feed A School, we live what we teach.”
Support is provided throughout the process, with schools guided from the first idea through to reaching their target.
Claire Benjamin said:
“Choose to Feed A School and you will make a lasting difference to children, their families and their whole communities.”
For schools across the Highlands and Islands, it is an opportunity to turn small actions into lasting impact.
A simple idea, a shared effort and a direct link between communities can change lives far beyond the classroom.
