A Whale of a Time, a gift box service based in Inverness which brings together products from independent businesses across the Highlands and Islands, has launched a ‘Build Your Own Box’ service.
Revealed during a Facebook Live session with Small Business Saturday this week as part of its UK tour which runs until Wednesday 1st December, the Build Your Own Box feature is based on customer feedback since the business launched last year.
Eilidh Marshall, co-founder and director of A Whale of a Time, explained:
“We launched A Whale of a Time in December 2020.
“The idea was to showcase the fantastic products made in the Highlands and Islands by fellow small businesses.
“In the last year, we have delivered gift boxes all over the country.
“We’ve extended the number of suppliers we work with, and we’ve listened to customer feedback and watched shopping trends in the marketplace.
“The trend for personalisation is still strong and the Build Your Own Box function is a response to that.
“So, if somebody wants to mix things up and send a colouring book with a tipple, some smellies with some chocolate or a box of biscuits with a book as a gift then they absolutely can!
“We are delighted to be part of the Small Business Saturday tour in good company with so many liked-minded people who follow their dream and take a chance to start their own business.”
A Whale of a Time showcases products from Shetland, Wick, Moray, Inverness, Ross-shire, Lochaber, Wester Ross, Harris, Lewis, Islay and Skye.
The range of gift boxes has also been extended and now includes a Love is for mugs Box, a Wee Treat Box, an I Heart Chocolate Box and a Hot Chocolate Box.
Producers included in A Whale of a Time gift boxes include Loch Ness Spirits, Badachro Distillery, Inverness Coffee Roasting Co., Pixel Spirits, Myxd, Atlantic Lights, Bruichladdich Distillery, Island Bakery, Lucy Wagtail, Shore – The Scottish Seaweed Company, Pencil Me In, Cath Waters, Isle of Skye Seaweed Co., Ashers, Selkie Soap Co., Ablekids Press, Made in the Highlands, Camella Crafts, Love Tonic, Chocolates of Glenshiel, Baile Mor Books, Brew Natural, The Shetland Soap Company, Wolfburn Distillery, Ice and Fire Distillery and The Hebridean Tea Store.
