Caithness, Sutherland & Ross MSP, Maree Todd, will hold a series of fuel poverty advice surgeries this October in partnership with Home Energy Scotland, Citizens Advice Scotland, and ALI Energy.
Maree Todd has pointed to the UK Labour Government’s cut to Winter Fuel Payments as a key reason for the fuel poverty focused surgeries, as many of her constituents will now be without this vital support this winter.
The drop-in surgeries will be held from the 22nd to the 28th of October in Gairloch, Ardgay, Wick & Alness.
These sessions aim to support constituents who are vulnerable to the impacts of fuel poverty, offering advice on social security benefits and home energy efficiency.
Commenting, Maree Todd MSP said:
“Since Labour’s heartless decision to cut Winter Fuel Payments for pensioners, I’ve been inundated with messages from elderly constituents worried about how they’ll cope this winter.
“Fuel poverty is an issue affecting people and families across my constituency -in Caithness, Sutherland & Ross, we have some of the highest rates in the UK.
“As we head into the colder months, it’s crucial that we do everything possible to ensure people are receiving all the support they are entitled to.
“I would encourage any of my constituents who are concerned energy costs this upcoming winter to drop-in.
“I will be joined by advisors from Home Energy Scotland, ALI Energy and Citizens Advice Scotland, who will help to offer tailored support and advice.”
