MacTavish Cup Semi Final Draw Sets Up Repeat of 2025 Final

The semi final draw for the 2026 W M Donald MacTavish Cup has been made, with a repeat of last year’s final among the standout ties.

The draw, organised by the Camanachd Association and title sponsor W M Donald, took place at the company’s Inverness headquarters.

With all four teams now just one match away from the final, attention turns to two strong semi final clashes ahead of the showpiece at Bught Park on 13 June.

Caberfeidh, finalists in 2022, will face current Camanachd Cup holders Newtonmore at Castle Leod in what promises to be a tightly contested encounter.

In the other tie, Lovat will take on Kingussie in a repeat of the 2025 final, adding extra edge to a fixture that already carries significant weight in the shinty calendar.

The MacTavish Cup, the first major final of the season, remains one of the most anticipated competitions in the north of Scotland, drawing strong support from clubs and supporters alike.

Daniel Bauer of W M Donald said:

“Everyone at W M Donald is really looking forward to the final this year, last year was a great spectacle and we are pleased to be sponsoring the competition again. Good luck to all the teams in the semi-finals!”

Burton Morrison, President of the Camanachd Association, said:

“As the names of the last four teams in the competition go into the draw, there is a sense of anticipation amongst shinty followers awaiting the outcome.

“There is no doubt that, whoever progresses from the semi-finals, we are set for a thrilling climax on June 13th.

“The MacTavish Cup showcases the very best of shinty in the North of Scotland, and we are delighted to partner with W M Donald, a company that shares our enthusiasm for the area.”

The final will take place at Bught Park in Inverness on 13 June, where one of the four remaining sides will lift the first major trophy of the season.

With history, rivalry and form all in play, the stage is set for two semi finals that should deliver everything expected of top level shinty.
