Moray Council is set to consult with local communities on plans to manage overnight stays for campervans and motorhomes at designated council-owned sites.
A report presented to the Economic Development and Infrastructure Services Committee highlighted the current situation and recommended seeking community feedback.
The consultation aims to gather views on the potential benefits and risks of the proposed scheme and determine the best management practices.
The initiative is designed to support sustainable tourism while addressing community concerns.
Provisional locations under consideration include Lossiemouth, Cullen, Buckie, Forres, Portgordon, Burghead, Ballindalloch, Craigellachie, and Aberlour.
Residents are encouraged to suggest alternative locations as part of the consultation process.
The Council will seek input from local residents, businesses, and community groups before making any final decisions on the introduction and management of the overnight stay scheme.
A report summarising the consultation findings will be presented to the committee for review.
Further details on how to participate in the consultation will be shared soon.
Councillor Marc Macrae, Chair of Moray Council’s Economic Development and Infrastructure Services Committee, stated:
“Tourism plays a key role in Moray’s economy, and we recognise the growing popularity of campervan and motorhome travel.
“This consultation will allow us to explore how we might provide suitable overnight parking locations and understand the views of local communities before any decision is made.”
