Moray MP Douglas Ross (pictured) who is also now an MSP for the Highlands & Islands, (which includes Moray) has made clear that he would only draw one salary if elected to Holyrood while still MP for Moray.
He will donate his salary from the Scottish Parliament to local charities and has announced that the first to benefit will be Kieranโs Legacy.
Douglas Ross said:
โI am delighted to be donating my first monthโs salary to such a wonderful charity.
โKeiranโs death was an absolute tragedy but what his family are doing now in his name is truly inspirational and has helped to save lives.
โTheir tireless efforts are ensuring that people know what to do in life threatening situations and has placed vital defibrillators across our communities.
โThat is a legacy to be very proud of and I know their excellent work will only continue to grow.
โI know that this donation will be put to good use to educate more people in the use of CPR and enable more lives to be saved.
โEveryone involved with Keiranโs Legacy are doing great work and I am pleased to be in a position to give a financial donation to support their work.โ
Kieranโs mum, Sandra McAndie of Kieranโs Legacy said:
โWe would like to thank Douglas very much for donating his first monthโs MSP salary to our charity.
โThis is particularly welcome as we continue to deal with the effects of the pandemic, having not been able to hold fundraising events.
โIt is important to remind people that the charity is very much still active and has still been helping to save peopleโs lives.
โIt is a fantastic gesture and one that is hugely appreciated by us.โ
