M&S and YoungMinds have announced an exciting competition inviting young people to design a winning sweatshirt or hoodie for the 2025 M&S x YoungMinds Hello Yellow kidswear collection.

Hello Yellow, celebrated on World Mental Health Day (10th October), encourages schools, families, and communities to wear yellow, showing solidarity with young people struggling with their mental health.

Launched during Children’s Mental Health Week, the competition is led by M&S x YoungMinds Partnership Ambassador, Rochelle Humes.

It invites young people across the UK to create inspiring designs that will be featured in M&S stores nationwide and online.

All profits from the sales will support YoungMinds’ mental health initiatives.

The competition is open to two age groups: 5-11 and 12-16 years old.

One winner from each category will see their designs become part of the Hello Yellow 2025 collection.

Winners will enjoy exclusive behind-the-scenes experiences, including visits to M&S’ support centre in London and the supplier factory in the Midlands to witness their designs come to life.

They will also be part of the product launch in September.

Additionally, the winners will receive enough sweatshirts or hoodies featuring their design for their entire class to wear on Hello Yellow Day.

Since partnering in 2023, M&S has raised over £3 million for YoungMinds, contributing to resources that support over 3.2 million young people and 1.8 million adults through the YoungMinds Parent Helpline, training, and online advice.

Victoria McKenzie-Gould, Corporate Affairs Director at M&S, said:

“We’re proud to have raised over £3 million to support young people’s mental health.

“This competition is about raising awareness and showing young people they’re never alone.”

Laura Bunt, Chief Executive of YoungMinds, added:

“Young people are struggling more than ever.

“This competition is an opportunity to show them they’re not alone and to get creative for a cause that matters.”

Rochelle Humes, M&S x YoungMinds Partnership Ambassador, said:

“I’m SO excited about this competition.

“It’s a perfect reminder that one chat can change everything.

“Encourage a young designer you know to take part—their creativity could make a real difference.”
