Drivers using the A9 between Ballinluig and Rotmell are being advised to plan ahead as overnight traffic management measures are introduced later this month as part of the A9 Dualling programme.
The temporary restrictions will begin on 15 June and affect the section of the A9 between Ballinluig and south of the Rotmell junction.
The measures are required to allow construction work to continue safely while protecting pedestrians and road workers within the project area.
As part of the changes, a narrowed southbound lane will be introduced along the length of the project.
Temporary safety barriers will also be installed along the southbound carriageway edge line while construction activities take place.
To allow these measures to be put in place, overnight traffic management will operate between 7pm and 6am for approximately two weeks from Monday 15 June.
The works will involve short lane closures, temporary traffic signals and convoy working.
No overnight works will take place on Saturdays or Sundays.
The location of the traffic management will move throughout the project area as work progresses.
Motorists are being urged to allow extra time for their journeys during this period and to approach the area with caution.
Further changes will come into effect from 22 June for operators of abnormal load vehicles.
Abnormal load operators travelling northbound on the A9 will be required to wait at Layby 36N, located north of Bankfoot.
Southbound operators should use Layby 34, situated north of Ballinluig.
The designated holding areas will be clearly signposted and traffic management teams will escort abnormal loads safely through the construction site when required.
The traffic measures form part of the ongoing A9 Dualling programme, one of Scotland’s largest infrastructure projects, which aims to improve safety, reliability and journey times along the route between Perth and Inverness.
While the restrictions are expected to cause some delays, project teams say the temporary arrangements are necessary to ensure work can continue safely and efficiently.
Road users seeking the latest travel information are encouraged to monitor Traffic Scotland updates before setting out.
The latest phase of work marks another step forward in the long running programme to transform one of Scotland’s most important transport corridors.
