Police have completed their investigation into a reported serious sexual assault in Dunollie Woods, Oban, with no further police action being taken at this time.

Detectives say all lines of enquiry following the report on Friday 15 May have now been completed after an investigation involving specialist searches, CCTV examination and door to door enquiries.

Police Scotland confirmed that officers carried out extensive enquiries after the incident was reported.

Specialist officers were involved in searching the area as detectives worked to establish the circumstances surrounding the report.

Officers also examined CCTV footage as part of the investigation and carried out enquiries with people living in the area.

Police have now confirmed that those lines of enquiry have been completed.

No further police action is being taken at this time, although officers are continuing to ask anyone with further information relating to the incident to make contact.

Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Gillies said:

“I would like to reassure the public there has been a comprehensive investigation which included a search of the area by specialist officers.

“We have also carried out a thorough examination of CCTV footage and door to door enquiries.

“We know this has had an impact on the local community and I want to reassure them that all reports of sexual crime are thoroughly investigated.
