Moray’s MSP, Richard Lochhead, last week visited Forres based business Makar Technologies to learn more about the business and the company’s ambitious plans for the future.
Makar Technologies is one of Scotland’s leading electronics companies and has been working out of the Forres Enterprise Park since 2015.
Having grown significantly since then, Makar are set to move to larger premises later this year, which will allow the company to grow their business and create more new jobs in the area.
Speaking after his visit Richard Lochhead MSP said:
“It was great to visit Makar Technologies and to hear about how the company has grown in recent years and their ambitious plans for the future.
“I was pleased to hear that Moray is home to one of Scotland’s leading electronics manufacturers and having gone from strength to strength in recent years they are now set to move to larger premises later this year.
“Makar’s Managing Director has shown a real commitment to providing employment and training opportunities for local people, as well as being an inclusive employer, and I enjoyed meeting some of his team during my visit.
“I’m delighted we have such an exciting and innovative business here on our doorstep and I look forward to seeing what Makar achieves in the future.”
Makar Technologies Managing Director, David King added:
“Makar Technologies have worked over the past 5 years to build a reputation as a leading electronics design, manufacturing and service company by investing in the local staff skills and training.
“We have also invested in sector leading equipment and combining both these have been able to win new business from a national and international customer base.
“This has allowed the business to grow rapidly and continue to employ local people to keep up the rate of growth now and into the future.
“Richard’s visit was welcomed by our management and staff as he has supported the business over the past few years to ensure we have the necessary support to grow to this stage.
“Richard took the time to talk to many of the staff during his visit and this was warmly welcomed by all.
“Since the foundation of the business, Makar Technologies Ltd have worked closely with the Job Centre Plus team in Elgin to hire all its staff from unemployment and to provide suitable training to ensure they have the skills to work within the electronic systems design, manufacturing and service sector.
“With the investment in our people and in advanced manufacturing equipment Makar Technologies Ltd has continued to grow and is now recognised as a high quality supplier of electronic systems to a diverse customer base.”
