Alliance to Liberate Scotland has called on the Scottish Government to pursue a fresh independence mandate following the Scottish Parliament election.
The party said the election result demonstrated continued support for Scottish self determination and argued Westminster could no longer ignore what it described as the sovereign will of the Scottish people.
In a statement released following the election, the party criticised Westminster’s continued refusal to grant a Section 30 order for another independence referendum.
A spokesperson for the Alliance to Liberate Scotland said:
“The people of Scotland are sovereign.
“That sovereignty is not a privilege to be granted by London it is ours by right, rooted in our history, our democratic tradition, and our lived reality.
“The time for polite requests is over.
“When Westminster blocks the democratic path, Scotland must take it anyway.
“The First Minister now has a clear duty force an election on the single question of independence.
“Let the Scottish people decide once and for all whether we remain trapped in a failing Union or take control of our own destiny.
The statement also linked Scotland’s constitutional future to economic pressures facing households across the country.
The party said:
“Across Scotland, families are struggling with a punishing cost of living crisis sky high energy bills, unaffordable rents, and food prices that leave too many choosing between heating and eating.
“This is not an accident of fate.
“It is the direct result of Scotland being denied control over its own vast resources.”
The Alliance to Liberate Scotland argued that independence would allow Scotland to use its energy wealth and wider resources differently.
The statement said:
“Only independence gives us the power to use Scotland’s resources for Scotland’s people.
“With full control over our economy, we can build a fairer system lower energy costs for Scottish households, investment in affordable housing, and targeted support to ease the daily pressures that Westminster has failed to address.”
The party also called on independence supporters and campaigners across Scotland to unite behind further action.
The statement concluded:
“We thank every voter who placed their trust in us.
“Your voice has been heard.
“Now is the time for action.
“Scotland’s sovereignty cannot be indefinitely ignored.
“The First Minister must act.
“The people demand nothing less.”
