Scottish Water has announced a major investment taking place in Beauly to upgrade the local sewer network, aiming to reduce the risk of sewer flooding in the area.

The work is set to begin on Monday 23 September and is expected to take approximately 16 weeks.

The publicly owned utility will install 450 meters of new sewer pipes, extending from the existing pumping station off Maple Vale to Station Road.

This £615,000 investment will deliver long-term benefits to Beauly’s sewer network, enhancing its reliability and ensuring better protection for the local community.

To ensure safety, a rolling road closure will be in place throughout the construction, with local diversions in place and signposted.

Temporary restrictions on vehicle access and on-street parking may occur as the project progresses, but pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

Scottish Water’s Alliance Team Leader, Andrew Hannah said:

“This investment is a significant step in improving the resilience of Beauly’s sewer network.

“The upgraded infrastructure will provide improved protection for local homes and businesses by reducing the risk of sewer flooding in the area.

“We understand there may be some disruption to local residents while we carry out this essential work, but we are committed to working closely with the community to minimise disruption where possible.”

Scottish Water is investing record levels – £2.7billion over the past 10 years – on improving its waste water infrastructure to help meet increased demand and address the impact of climate change.
