Across the Highlands, there are people who quietly make life better every single day.

High Life Highland’s staff and volunteers are the heart of our communities and now it’s your turn to say thank you.

Nominations are open for the 2025 i-care awards and the public get to decide who wins the coveted People’s Choice Award.

This is your chance to highlight someone whose dedication, kindness or sheer energy has left a lasting impression.

It could be a fitness instructor who lifts your spirits or a librarian who makes the local library feel like home.

It might be a countryside ranger whose passion for nature has inspired a new generation or a museum guide who brings the past to life.

Whoever they are, if they’ve gone the extra mile, they deserve to be recognised.

High Life Highland Chief Executive Steve Walsh said the People’s Choice Award is one of the most hotly contested categories every year.

Last year’s winner was the brilliant Jenny Rankine from Dingwall Leisure Centre, whose fitness classes are the highlight of the week for so many.

Her students described her as both inspiring and motivational and their support saw her take the top spot.

There are nine award categories in total but only the People’s Choice Award is decided by public vote.

So if someone has made a difference to your day, your family or your community, now is the moment to speak up.

You can nominate anyone who works or volunteers with High Life Highland across its seven services.

That includes sports and leisure, archives, countryside rangers, libraries, museums, galleries and music development.

Nominees should reflect High Life Highland’s core i-care values.

These values are Integrity, Community, Accountability, Respect and Example.

That means being honest and dependable, building inclusive communities and always leading with professionalism and compassion.

From the person who welcomes you to the leisure centre to the archivist preserving Highland history, every single role matters.

The closing date for nominations is 18 July and the winners will be announced at a special celebration in November.

If someone has lifted your spirits, made you feel seen or simply brought joy to your corner of the Highlands, now is the time to show your appreciation.

You can nominate your local hero through the High Life Highland website.

Let’s celebrate the people who put so much into making the Highlands a better place to live, work and play.
