Scottish favourites Skerryvore have announced a return to the Highland capital this December as part of their 20th anniversary celebrations.
The much-loved band revealed today that they will take to the stage at Inverness Leisure Centre on Friday 5 December.
This follows last year’s sell-out show at the same venue, which proved a firm highlight for both the band and their fans.
Skerryvore marked the start of their anniversary year with a spectacular concert at Floors Castle in Kelso over the weekend.
Now, the celebrations are set to continue in style here in the Highlands.
Formed in 2005 on the windswept island of Tiree, Skerryvore’s story is one of passion and perseverance.
From playing intimate gigs in village halls and local bars, they have grown into an international phenomenon.
Their energetic blend of traditional and contemporary sounds now fills festivals across the UK, Europe, North America and Australia.
The band are no strangers to accolades, having been crowned Scotland’s Live Act of the Year three times.
Their 2023 album, Tempus, topped the Official Scottish and UK Folk Albums charts and reached the UK Top 40.
Tracks from the album, including three singles featured on the BBC Radio 2 playlist, have drawn in even more fans.
With a rich sound of bagpipes, fiddles, accordions and whistles layered over driving guitar, bass, drums and keys, Skerryvore’s music is as vibrant as it is infectious.
Fan favourites such as Take My Hand, You & I and Live Forever are guaranteed to have the crowd singing and dancing from the first note.
Les Kidger of LCC Live, organisers of the Live in the City concert series, shared his excitement about Skerryvore’s upcoming performance.
“We are honoured to welcome Skerryvore back to the Highlands to celebrate this incredible milestone,” he said.
“Last year’s concert in Inverness was electric, with the crowd and the band creating a fantastic atmosphere.”
“This year’s show promises to be another unforgettable night to launch our Christmas concert season.”
The band themselves are eagerly anticipating their return to the Highlands.
Martin Gillespie from Skerryvore said:
“We love Inverness.”
“Last year’s gig at the Leisure Centre was one of our absolute highlights and such an amazing party.”
“We can’t wait to come back to our Highland home this December and celebrate with everyone once again.”
Tickets for Skerryvore’s special anniversary show go on sale this Friday, 6 June.
