The by-election to elect two councillors to represent Ward 6 Cromarty Firth on The Highland Council has been won by Sinclair Coghill – Independent and John Edmondson – Scottish Liberal Democrats who were two of twelve candidates who contested the vacancies.
Voters in the ward went to the poll yesterday (Thursday 26 September) and the by-election count was held this morning in the Inverness Town House.
Voting was by the single transferable vote and Sinclair Coghill and John Edmondson emerged as the winners at stage 11 of the electronic count.
The turnout was 24.6%.
They will join Councillors Tamala Collier (Scottish National Party) and Maxine Smith (Highland Alliance) in representing Ward 6 on The Highland Council.
