Passengers using the Wick to Aberdeen lifeline air service are set to benefit from lower fares and new return ticket options as Air Charter Scotland announces a revised pricing structure for the route.
The updated fares will come into effect from 1 June and are aimed at making travel more affordable and straightforward for families, business passengers and regular travellers using the Public Service Obligation route between Wick and Aberdeen.
Under the revised structure, standard one way fares will reduce to £79.99 while flexible one way tickets will fall to £109.99.
The airline is also introducing new return fare options with standard returns priced at £149 and flexible returns available for £199.
Families travelling on the route will also benefit from discounted child fares with children aged between two and eleven receiving a 25 per cent discount without any cap on family size, while infants under two will continue travelling free of charge.
Unlike many commercial airline services, the Wick to Aberdeen PSO route includes baggage and taxes within the advertised fare meaning passengers avoid additional hidden charges often associated with air travel.
The changes arrive ahead of the busy summer travel period and follow feedback from passengers using the route.
For communities across Caithness and the north Highlands, the service remains an important transport link connecting the region with Aberdeen for healthcare, business, onward travel and family connections.
The route has also maintained a reported 98 per cent reliability rate since operations began under Air Charter Scotland.
Chief Operating Officer Derek Thomson said the revised pricing aimed to improve accessibility while maintaining service standards despite increasing costs across the aviation industry.
“Passengers consistently tell us they value the reliability, convenience and personal service offered on the Wick Aberdeen route, and we are always listening to feedback about how we can improve further.
“These changes simplify the fare structure, introduce better value return options and make family travel more affordable, while continuing to provide the high standards of service passengers expect from Air Charter Scotland.
“Importantly, these improvements are being introduced at a time when operating costs across the aviation sector continue to rise significantly.”
Leader of The Highland Council Raymond Bremner welcomed the changes and said the route had already built a strong reputation locally.
“I welcome this announcement from Air Charter Scotland, which will be positive news for passengers travelling over the summer period.
“Living locally, I have been encouraged to hear many positive reports about the personal service and strong reliability provided on the route, giving both local residents and visitors confidence when travelling between Wick and Aberdeen.”
The Wick Aberdeen PSO service continues to play a crucial role in supporting connectivity across the far north, particularly for communities where long road journeys can often add significant time and difficulty to travel.
