Inverness is in for a musical treat this month as the city prepares to welcome a sparkling afternoon of traditional Scottish tunes.

Around 200 talented young musicians from across the Highlands will gather at Inverness Leisure on Saturday 14 June, ready to fill the venue with the joyful sounds of jigs, reels and marches.

The event marks the first ever Fiddlers Rally organised by High Life Highland.

It promises to be a foot-tapping celebration of the region’s rich musical heritage.

Performances will come from fiddle students across the Highlands, alongside members of three of the organisation’s flagship groups: Snas, Beira and the High Life Highland Pipe Band.

The musical showcase will take place in the main arena, with the performance beginning at 3.30pm.

The atmosphere is set to be electric as young musicians take to the stage, many performing in front of an audience of this size for the very first time.

Norman Bolton, Head of Music Development at High Life Highland, shared his excitement ahead of the big day.

“We are very excited for our first ever Fiddlers Rally next weekend,” he said.

“It is a wonderful opportunity for our young musicians from all over the Highlands to come together, make new connections, and perform with like-minded people.”

He added:

“They have all worked so hard in preparation for this event and I know the audience will be thoroughly entertained.

“We cannot wait to share this special afternoon of music with everyone.”

The Fiddlers Rally is expected to draw both locals and visitors keen to experience the vibrant spirit of Highland music.
