Drivers using the A9 are being advised to expect short delays on Sunday 8 February 2026 as temporary traffic signals are put in place to allow essential overhead cable works to be carried out safely.

Transport Scotland confirmed that three brief road closures will take place as part of the ongoing A9 Dualling works between Tomatin and Moy.

Each closure will last up to 15 minutes and will occur at separate points between 8.00am and 9.05am during the Sunday morning.

The works will be carried out on the A9 around 1km north of the Lynebeg realignment, where overhead cables are being removed and replaced.

During each closure, traffic in both directions will be held using red traffic signals while the work is completed.

Once the cables have been safely dealt with, traffic will be released and the road will return to normal operation.

Pedestrian access and routes for emergency services will be maintained throughout the works, with the temporary signals manned at all times.

Transport Scotland said the decision to schedule the work early on a Sunday morning was taken to minimise disruption for road users.

Drivers are being warned that some short delays are unavoidable, with the measures described as essential for the safety of both the workforce and passing traffic.

Motorists are also being advised that planned dates may change at short notice depending on weather conditions.
