Thanks to fund raising efforts and donations from Councillors The Highland Council’s Vice Convener Councillor Ken Gowans has handed over a cheque for £575 to MFR Cash for Kids Mission Christmas Appeal.

He presented the cheque to Lauren MacInnes at the charity’s office at the Co-op on Telford Street, Inverness.

The money was collected at last week’s meeting of Highland Council when Councillors gathered at the local authority headquarters in Inverness.

Councillor Ken Gowans said:

“I would like to thank all Highland Councillors for raising this money as the MFR Cash For Kids Mission Christmas appeal plays such an important role at this time of year.

“We all delighted to be able to boost their funds so they can target support where it is most needed.”

Lauren MacInnes, Charity Fundraising Executive said:

“Thank you to the elected members of Highland Council once again this year for their generous donation to our appeal.

“Every penny counts and will be used to make a difference including making sure that all children referred will have their very own special parcel to open on Christmas morning.”

Fellow Vice Convener, Cllr Biz Campbell added:

“We know how expensive this time of year can be, especially for families so I hope the generosity of members will provide some Christmas cheer for those less fortunate.”

Highland Council Convener, Cllr Bill Lobban expressed his thanks too.

He said:

“This year, perhaps more than any other, families need support and I am pleased that the money we have raised will go to provide children with a Christmas to remember.”
