Commenting on the news that a 54-year-old cyclist was in a critical condition after being found unconscious in Inverness, Ariane Burgess, Scottish Green MSP for the Highlands & Islands region gave the following statement:
“My thoughts are with the friends and family of the injured cyclist and the motorist who alerted emergency services.
“That such an accident could take place in the middle of the day on a Sunday underlines the challenge cyclists face when navigating our streets at what should be a quiet time on the roads.
“We urgently need safe and segregated routes for vulnerable road users to connect up our communities.
“Anyone with information or dashcam footage should contact the Police on 101 or complete their online contact form.”
