An exciting new exhibition opened in Eden Court’s Chapel Gallery this week, showcasing wood and stone carvings, drawings and photographs by Kyle of Lochalsh based artist Liondsaidh Chaimbeul.
The exhibition, titled Fo BhlĂ th (Under Blossom) by the fluent Gaelic speaker, is free to visit until the end of September.
To celebrate the unique exhibition, Eden Court has partnered with Blas Festival to host a concert in the arts venue’s OneTouch Theatre on Tuesday 10 September at 7.30pm.
Cruinn CĂ²mhla leis na Caimbeulaich is the most ambitious edition yet of Eden Court’s popular Gaelic Acoustic Nights series of events which have seen the likes of Ellen MacDonald, Calum Stewart and Lauren MacColl perform in the venue’s atmospheric chapel.
The evening’s line-up features members of Liondsaidh’s talented family, including daughter Brìghde Chaimbeul and husband Angus Peter Campbell.
World-renowned smallpiper Brìghde Chaimbeul has been busy performing all over Europe at festivals this summer, so her appearance on Tuesday will be a rare opportunity to see her perform in the Highlands.
Also performing is accordionist Cìorstaidh Chaimbeul, classical guitarist EĂ²saph Caimbeul and singer Juliette Ashman.
As well as the music, there will be poetry from Angus Peter Campbell and Professor Meg Bateman, with Cailean MacLean hosting in both Gaelic and English.
Those looking for a more in-depth viewing of the artwork on display are invited to join sculptor Liondsaidh for an exhibition tour and short pre-show talk by Professor Meg Bateman.
Free tickets can be reserved through Eden Court.
Cruinn CĂ²mhla leis na Caimbeulaich is part of Blas Festival events happening across the Highlands from 6 – 14 September.
Tickets are available from Eden Court’s website and box office (01463 234234).
