Fifty years on from its very first car race, Knockhill Racing Circuit is ready to celebrate in roaring style with a weekend that promises speed, memories, and motoring legends.

It was May 18th, 1975 when the Fife track first echoed with the sound of high-octane car racing, and now, on the exact anniversary, Knockhill is pulling out all the stops to mark its golden jubilee.

Over two glorious days, the circuit will become a time machine of motorsport, bringing together five decades of racing history and the heroes who made it unforgettable.

Saturday 17th May kicks off with a full day of modern competition as today’s Scottish Championship classes take to the tarmac, setting the stage for what’s to come.

Then on Sunday 18th, the past takes pride of place with a nostalgic nod to that very first car meeting, reimagined with eleven thrilling races, a classic car parade, and even a grid walk to stir the senses.

More than 60 champion drivers will be in attendance, including Edward Labhinjo, the man who took the chequered flag in Knockhill’s first ever car race, returning in a classic Alfa Romeo to relive history.

Among the treasures on show will be over 40 competition cars, many of them driven by the very racers who once battled in them, adding a deeply personal note to the spectacle.

From thunderous British Touring Cars to delicately balanced Minis, there will be something to make every motorsport heart race.

Stuart Gray, Director of Events at Knockhill, couldn’t hide his pride in the response from the motorsport community, calling the line-up “a walk into the past” that will leave fans and racers alike moved.

A special BTCC tribute will see three titans of the sport return—Alan Gow, John Cleland, and Gordon Shedden—bringing heavyweight prestige to the weekend’s events.

The schedule features fan favourites including the Scottish Legends, Fiesta STs, Mini Coopers, and the ever-entertaining Pick-Up Trucks, promising wheel-to-wheel action from 9am to 5pm each day.

On Sunday at 1pm, the track will pause for a touching recreation of the original opening ceremony, offering a rare moment of reflection and celebration in the fast-paced world of racing.

Whether you’re a lifelong fan or new to the sport, Knockhill’s 50th anniversary promises a heartfelt tribute to racing, friendship, and the unbreakable bond between driver, car, and circuit.

Tickets are available now via www.knockhill.com/events and will also be on sale at the gate each day—get ready to celebrate half a century of speed, spirit, and Scottish motorsport magic.
