Inverness-based Capstone Construction has installed a defibrillator at its headquarters in the Longman area, offering round-the-clock access to critical life-saving equipment for employees, nearby businesses, and the public.
This vital health and safety enhancement, featuring a Mindray C1A defibrillator, has been mounted outside the entrance of Capstone’s head office on Henderson Drive, providing easy access to all in the area in case of a medical emergency.
The initiative was spearheaded by Capstone’s Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) Manager, Brian Morrison, who recognised that adding defibrillators would help safeguard the workforce and support surrounding communities, aligning with Capstone’s commitment to best practice health and safety standards.
Brian Morrison commented:
“We take pride in going above and beyond compliance, and having a defibrillator on-site is a step towards ensuring the well-being of our team and the local area.”
This installation was made possible with the help of Andrew Robertson Electrical Ltd., who provided the electrical installation and commissioning free of charge, alongside monetary contributions from nearby businesses Northern Security Alarms, Jack’s Self Drive, Highland Bodyshop Car & Commercial, and GM Leitch Materials Handling – all Henderson Drive neighbours.
The newly-installed defibrillator is housed in a heated cabinet provided by London Hearts, a charity focused on expanding access to life-saving equipment, underscoring Capstone’s commitment to creating safer workspaces and communities.
Further expanding its health and safety initiative, Capstone Construction is set to install additional defibrillators across three of its major development sites, including a care home project for Parklands Care Homes in Milton of Leys, a residential development in Slackbuie with 24 homes led by Highland Housing Alliance, and phase two of the Castlepark housing project in Dingwall, which will bring 27 new homes to the area for Albyn Housing Association.
Capstone’s Procurement Manager, Craig MacLellan, shared his enthusiasm, saying:
“Providing life-saving equipment like this is a key way we can give back to the community, and we are grateful to all the local businesses who made it possible.
“It’s our mission to build not only high-quality homes and commercial spaces but to ensure a positive impact on the communities we serve.”
Available 24/7, the defibrillator at Capstone Construction’s headquarters at 11-13 Henderson Drive, Inverness, stands ready to provide potentially life-saving assistance, marking another example of how businesses and communities can work together to improve public safety.
