A crucial overnight maintenance operation at Inchree Waste Water Pumping Station near Fort William will require temporary traffic management on the A82 trunk road this month.
Scottish Water has announced that essential upgrades to their facilities will commence on Monday 25 November 2024, with works scheduled between 9pm and 6am to minimise impact on regular traffic flow.
Motorists travelling southbound on the A82 will encounter temporary traffic lights during the night-time operation, while residents of Righ Crescent should note a full road closure will be in effect, though emergency access will be maintained throughout.
The maintenance programme, to be delivered by Scottish Water’s specialist contractor RSE, forms part of the utility provider’s ongoing commitment to maintaining robust infrastructure across the Highland region.
A spokesperson for Scottish Water explained that the overnight scheduling strategy was specifically chosen to reduce disruption to both local residents and the travelling public whilst ensuring vital works could proceed efficiently.
“Maintaining our waste water network to the highest standards is absolutely essential for the continued provision of reliable services to the Fort William community,” the spokesperson noted.
The carefully planned works demonstrate Scottish Water’s strategic approach to infrastructure maintenance, balancing the need for essential upgrades with consideration for local residents and businesses.
Engineers will work through the night to complete the maintenance schedule, with all traffic management measures set to be removed before the morning commuter period begins at 6am.
Road users are advised to factor in short delays if travelling through the area during the specified hours, though impact on journey times is expected to be minimal due to reduced night-time traffic volumes.
