Niteworks to Release Farewell Tour Film and Live Album Worldwide

Skye electronic Celtic pioneers Niteworks are to release their farewell tour documentary Solas na Maidne online for the first time, giving fans around the world the chance to relive the band’s final live shows.

The online premiere will take place at 6pm on 14 May through the band’s official website, marking two years since the emotional farewell tour first took place across Scotland and beyond.

The release will also coincide with the launch of a live album recorded during the same run of sold out performances.

Advance access tickets will go on sale from 9am on 11 May.

The documentary follows Niteworks during their final 2024 tour, beginning at Skye Live Festival in Portree before travelling through Inverness, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and London, culminating in a sold out performance at Glasgow’s O2 Academy.

Directed by Magnus Graham, brother of drummer Ruairidh Graham, the film captures both the energy on stage and the pressures behind the scenes as the band prepared to bring their journey to a close.

Innes Strachan of Niteworks said:

“We’re really proud of the documentary.

“Magnus has done an incredible job of capturing the energy of the final tour on stage and behind the scenes, we can’t wait to share it with fans everywhere on the night.”

The film is believed to be the first bilingual Gàidhlig and English language documentary to feature subtitles for both languages throughout.

English speech is subtitled in Gàidhlig while Gàidhlig dialogue carries English subtitles, reflecting how the band naturally communicate with one another.

Magnus Graham has described the project as one he has “never ever” planned to repeat due to the number of edits requested during production.

Ahead of the worldwide release, further screenings are taking place at Skye Live Festival inside the newly refurbished Las Cinema in Portree.

Screenings are scheduled for 2pm on Friday 8 May and 12pm on Saturday 9 May, giving audiences on Skye another opportunity to see the film before it becomes available online globally.

Only 160 tickets are available for the cinema screenings.

Niteworks announced in 2024 that the Solas na Maidne tour would be their final run of shows, with members citing the challenge of balancing music alongside full time careers and family life.

The band have become one of the most influential modern Gaelic acts of recent decades, blending electronic music with Highland and island traditions while helping introduce Gaelic music to new audiences around the world.

Last month the group also called on political parties ahead of the Scottish election to declare Scotland’s arts funding situation a national emergency and overhaul support for Gaelic and live music.

Solas na Maidne will be available online from 6pm on 14 May, with the accompanying live album released on the same day.
