Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal crash near Culbokie on the Black Isle that claimed the life of an 18-year-old man.

The collision, involving a white Ford Transit van and a black Ford Focus, happened around 9.40pm on Monday, 10 November, 2025, just south of the Cromarty Bridge.

Emergency services attended the scene, and the young man was taken to hospital where he sadly died a short time later.

An 18-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man were also taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The road was closed overnight to allow investigations to take place and reopened at around 6.30am on Tuesday, 11 November.

A 50-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and released pending further enquiries.

Sergeant Kate Finlayson from the Road Policing Unit said officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the crash or seen either vehicle beforehand.

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this extremely difficult time,” she said.

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the vehicles prior to get in touch with officers.”

“I’d also ask that anyone with dash-cam footage who was driving in the area at the time review this to see if it has captured anything that could assist with our investigation.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3378 of 10 November, 2025.
