Forty of Scotland’s most cherished landmarks will be bursting with life and laughter this Easter as the National Trust for Scotland hosts a nationwide series of egg trails.
From the rugged charm of Balmacara Estate in the Highlands to the leafy grounds of Preston Mill in East Lothian, the Trust is laying on a chocolate-fuelled adventure from Friday 18 to Monday 21 April.
The egg trails are priced at ÂŁ5 per child, with grown-ups going free, and in many cases can be booked ahead to avoid disappointment.
Each location offers a unique twist on the traditional Easter egg hunt, combining outdoor exploration with puzzle-solving to earn a sweet reward.
This year’s prize is a choice between a Maltesers chocolate egg and an allergen-friendly option from Moo Free, ensuring no one misses out on the fun.
Easter arrives a little later this year, making it the perfect time to catch spring in full swing across the Trust’s gardens, woodlands and historic landscapes.
Iain Hawkins, Regional Director at the National Trust for Scotland, says every trail is designed to spark joy and imagination in the great outdoors.
Families are encouraged to visit more than one trail to experience the variety of Scotland’s natural and cultural wonders.
Each visit also plays a part in supporting the Trust’s charitable mission to care for and protect Scotland’s heritage for generations to come.
The trails cater to all ages, with plenty of space to roam, clues to crack and memories to make.
With school holidays in full flow, the trails offer the perfect excuse to pack up the kids and head out for a day of fresh air and chocolate.
For those looking to extend their spring adventures, the Trust also offers holiday accommodation in breathtaking spots, ideal for families, groups or four-legged companions.
Whether you fancy a coastal cottage or a countryside retreat, there’s something to suit every Easter escape.
All proceeds from the Easter egg trails go toward conserving and enhancing the Trust’s vast portfolio of properties, gardens, and natural spaces.
So while the kids hunt for clues, adults can enjoy the peace of knowing their visit helps keep Scotland’s stories alive.
Information on all 40 trails, including dates and booking details, can be found at www.nts.org.uk/Easter.
